Sunday
Morning Co-Operative Nursery
Zion’s Nursery is open during the 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Sunday morning services. The nursery provides a caring, comfortable
play environment for parents, babies and toddlers during church
services. The nursery is open to all members and guests ages three
and under. Regularly participating families are expected to sign
up and work in the nursery.
Bibleland
Sunday School Ministry
The Sunday School ministry offers Sunday morning classes for children
age 3 through 5th grade. Classes meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30
a.m. throughout the school year. We begin our time together in The Gathering and then break into age groups for Bible lessons. We also have small parties
and large scale celebration events for Christmas, Palm Sunday and
Mother’s Day. For more information, contact Zion’s Bibleland
Sunday school coordinator, Nina Johnson (ninaj1003@comcast.net).
Middle School Ministry and Confirmation
Middle School Ministry at Zion encourages spiritual development in pre-teens and young teens in grades 6-8. Our ministry includes JAM (Jesus and Me) on Sunday mornings (9:30 to 10:30) and Confirmation program on Sunday afternoons (12 to 2 p.m.) twice monthly during the school year, and regular service projects, fun events, and overnights throughout the year.
Zion's Confirmation program utilizes the Faith Inkubators Confirmation curriculum to help children understand and learn about the Bible, Luther's Catechism, and Christianity. The program includes pastor-led studies and small group discussions.
High
School Ministry
High school ministry encourages spiritual development of teenagers and prepares young adults for a lifetime of Christian discipleship and service. Zion’s youth group consists of an eclectic group of teenagers which includes Zion members, non-members and friends. Youth group activities include: 1) Caffeine + Christ Bible Study (Sunday Mornings 9:30am in Classroom C)
2) Connect Youth Group (Sunday Nights 6-8pm in youth room)
3) regular social & service activities (retreats, concerts, service projects, etc.)
4) annual trips (including the ELCA Gathering & mission trips)
All high school students are welcome to attend all youth group meetings and activities. This ministry runs year round, however, events decrease during the summer months. For more information on Zion’s youth group and small group activities, contact Kelly Nieman Anderson at knieman@zlc-aa.org.
Check out YouTube for Youth Gathering 2009! All
Zion members who are parents of current high school students are asked to complete the following survey, even if your child is not currently active in youth ministry. Click here for the survey. Vacation
Bible School Ministry Vacation Bible School is a week long annual summer event designed
to help children learn about the Bible, celebrate Jesus’ good
news and enjoy Christian fellowship. We celebrated VBS 2011: PandaMania on June 20-24. VBS is
open to all children (ages 3 through 5th grade) in the community. A minimal registration fee
is charged: scholarships are available. More information is available on the VBS page. First
Communion Ministry First Communion at Zion consists of a six week, at home, preparation
program for children and their families. The program begins in the
late winter and requires participation in two at-church meetings.
The program culminates with a festive celebratory Seder Dinner and
Sunday morning First Communion Service. Children, approximately
9 years old or in 4th grade, are encouraged to participate.
