at Zion
We
believe that worship is the heart of any community of faith. The
worship experience forms our identity as Christians and binds us
together in love for God and in service to the needs of all people.
At Zion, we do not revere the external forms of worship. For us
there is no single “correct” worship form. Instead,
we seek to build diverse worship experiences which gather a diverse
people together to hear the life-giving Word of God, receive the
renewing sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, and support one
another in living the faith-life. To this end, we have three different
services every Sunday.
Worship
Schedule - Sunday Mornings
Traditional
Worship at 8:15 am
The Lutheran Book of Worship is the basis for this service. Hymns
are familiar and always led from the organ. Holy Communion is celebrated
on the first Sunday of every month and on festival Sundays.
Spirited
Traditional Worship at 9:30 am
Worship in a traditional “vein” but augmented by dramas,
special music, and a mixture of old and newer hymns. Holy Communion
is celebrated every Sunday.
Contemporary
Worship at 11:00 am
Worship that is less structured, more spontaneous and led by the
Zion praise band, “Liberty Street”. Holy Communion is
celebrated on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
